As you can see I have a blog. Why is that so strange? Well, I hate writing down how I feel. Talking is something else. I can talk the hind legs off a donkey; must be down to being Irish.
How is a completely disorganised person going to post blog entries? That remains to be seen! Maybe I've had a sudden reawakening!! That would be worrying as I kind of like who I am now - the devil you know and all that.
The purpose of this blog is to post about my painting. The website at the end of my very long finger has not materialised yet even though I realised yesterday that my web hosting renewal was due. A whole year of hosting and no website - augers well for the blog...
I'm at the horrible mid-point stage of a pastel painting of a yellow lab. The stage where you can't decide whether to tear it up or possibly, maybe, glue yourself to the chair and, horror of horrors, actually pick up a pastel and try to finish it. Or maybe you need to spring clean the whole house, cut the grass with a nail scissors, cook dozens of meals to stock the freezer, write to every person you ever knew...
Here it is in all of it's unfinished glory. I WILL finish it by tomorrow. See if I don't.

Dear Carol,
I have had, am having the same difficulty as you and I'm real Irish; just got to The States in 2000 when I was 68. I struggle along with acrylic and I only began in 84 when I was retired. But as Conor says, you just keep plugging along. Art is a state of mind and what you or I do is unique. So keep it up and remember when you are painting a dog you are painting God backwards.
Frank Maguire.
